The UPS Foundation is celebrating 70 years of giving, and the Atlanta-based Foundation is marking the occasion by re-framing its vision to address today’s most persistent problems. With a bold goal to positively impact one billion lives by 2040, equity is now at the center of The Foundation’s four focus areas:
- Health & Humanitarian Relief
- Equity & Economic Empowerment
- Local Community Engagement
- Planet Protection
UPS Foundation Vice President Joe Ruiz said “we’re deeply committed to community involvement – especially in times of crisis – delivering hope and helping people in need. Around the world, our employees and The UPS Foundation gave $122.3 million last year. And most recently in the U.S., UPSers donated more than $44 million to the United Way. In the midst of a global pandemic, UPSers remain committed to delivering what matters.”
Mr. Ruiz added that UPS Foundation President Nikki Clifton was offering her leadership to accomplish MORE GOOD over the next several decades. In a quote, Ms. Clifton said “even in these challenging times, UPS employees around the world are delivering what matters for our communities by donating their time, talent and treasure to generate social impact. A heartfelt thank you goes out to every UPSer. Your commitment to supporting our neighbors and lifting communities is meaningful and inspiring.”
Safe America CEO Len Pagano responded, saying that “Safe America is proud of UPS and the UPS Foundation, which we’ve worked together with since 1994. We look forward to enhancing our tremendous partnership and thank them for all we do together to be a force multiplier in our community.” Pagano added that Safe America and its WorldSafe Institute will continue to upload reports on Twitter and LinkedIn to showcase UPS and its new 70th year video.
“We are committed to improving the lives of 1 Billion people in the world by providing HELP where its needed most,” Joe Ruiz added. “Together we are a force multiplier to create a more equitable and just world.”
Way-to-go, UPS Foundation. We applaud you – and will work to help you every day.
